Installation journey

Before we can bring fiber internet to your home, we need to build the physical network that powers it. That means running new fiber lines through streets, sidewalks, alleys, and front lawns all while coordinating with local utilities and minimizing disruption. This page walks you through every step of the process.

Neighborhood Construction

This is the foundation of our network — laying the fiber that will serve hundreds of homes and businesses in your area.

You might see Loop crews installing lines on existing utility poles (aerial), or placing conduit and cable underground (buried). We use directional boring to avoid damaging roads or sidewalks, and we mark all utilities ahead of time to dig safely. Expect to see some flags, temporary paint, and safety barriers, which are all part of the process.

Most mainline work is completed within a few weeks and paves the way for individual property installations.

Understanding Aerial vs. Underground Construction

Not all neighborhoods are built the same — and that’s okay. Loop uses two methods to bring fiber to your area, depending on existing infrastructure

Aerial Construction

If your home has utility poles nearby, we’ll connect Loop Fiber using an overhead line. Our crew will run a small, durable fiber cable from the nearest pole to your house — typically following the same path as your electric or phone line. A technician may install a small hook or bracket on your exterior to support the drop.

Aerial fiber is fast to install and requires no digging. It’s also one of the least disruptive ways to get connected — and the entire process is usually complete within a day.

Underground Construction

If your neighborhood has buried utilities, your fiber drop will be installed underground. Before we begin, we submit a request to 811 so local utilities can mark gas, water, electric, and sewer lines. This is why you may see colored flags or painted markings in your yard.

We use a trenchless boring method to install a protective conduit beneath your property with minimal surface disturbance. Once the conduit is in place, we pull fiber through it and install a small fiber vault or wall-mounted enclosure at the edge of your home.

Afterward, we clean up thoroughly and restore any grass or landscaping that was impacted.

Safety & Cleanup

We take every precaution to ensure construction is safe, efficient, and respectful of your property. All work is done in compliance with local permitting laws and utility guidelines. Our crews work quickly — and when we’re done, we leave no trace behind.
